Evie Maitland - Dance Teacher & Admin
I have worked with multiple industry professionals from Musical Theatre, film and commercial backgrounds for example, Dean Lee and Wayne Sleep. In second year I learnt circus aerial skills which include silk and hoop work and look forward to learning bungee assisted dance from September. I have performed at MOVE IT 2019, and was in the FAME! Reunion Tour as a dancer at the Liverpool Arena plus had many onsite performances with my year group in the Paul McCartney Auditorium. I have also had the opportunity to teach my own commercial classes at LIPA as choreography and teaching is always something I have been interested in.
Fact! - I had never tapped before going to Studio B, I had a couple of lessons with Miss SJ before I left as was worried I would be behind everyone else and now I have been moved up tap levels to the second group!!! You can always learn no matter how old!
Some advice for younger dancers who want to pursue dance as a career: learn to always perform in class whether that’s ballet or jazz etc as it makes it easier when facing auditions and allows you to stand out. As they say at LIPA “technique can be taught, personality and a smile can not”. Always believe in yourself and never doubt your capability as a dancer.
I am so thankful for Studio B as even though I was only there for a couple of years before I left for university they taught me how to be professional in auditions and really expanded my knowledge on a range of styles which I hadn’t encountered prior. I really believe this allowed me to get into one of the leading dance colleges! I will always feel apart of the B family.
Feel free to ask me any questions about dance, my training or LIPA
