BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts and Musical Theatre course .

“ Whilst excited to move onto my new chapter in life , I will be very sad to leave Studio B Performing Arts . I have had the most amazing time there and have built up the best relationships with my dance friends which are like family . Miss Kerry has been so inspirational ,encouraging  and supportive , which in turn has helped to push  and develop myself , allowing me to continue my dream of dance .  Miss Kerry gives 100 per cent with students that want to achieve and I cannot recommend her enough ! I have also had the opportunity to develop my confidence in my singing and acting with Miss SJ and her experience and knowledge is amazing !! All teachers at Studio B are like family and I can’t thank them enough in helping me pursue my dreams , by sharing their knowledge and expertise !

I will miss the Studio B buzz , the laughs , the love and  the team work whether in class , at festivals , competitions and shows !

Thank you so much !!

I will be back soon !!

Since leaving Studio B I have trained at Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA), Bird College foundation year and now I’m currently studying at Creative Academy on the dance foundation degree. Over the past year I have trained in singing, acting, dance and musical theatre but decided I wanted to concentrate more on my dancing career, therefor creative academy was the best place for me. I have had many achievements like performing with the dance company nova at Move It 2018, I performed weekly as a Wolverine cheerleader/choreographer at Worcester arena and played ‘Gretel’ (Hansel & Gretel) in my final year show at BOA.

BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance- currently in my second year

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance

I made the decision to further my dance training at Trinity Laban as the course i'm on heavily focuses on both Ballet and different forms of contemporary dance styles which is what i'm massively interested in. I love all aspects of dance and i feel Laban particularly targets technique training alongside lots of choreographic opportunities/classes and contact improvisation. I'm extremely excited to embark on the performance and teaching pathway for my third year of training as they're both 2 aspects of the industry which i'm massively interested in pursuing in the future.

Course- Ba (Hons) Contemporary dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

I am studying contemporary dance in London at Laban. My training consists of daily technique classes in Graham, Cunningham, Release and Limon, as well as Classical ballet.

Since starting my training at Laban, I have developed greatly as an artist, learning each day what movement means to me and continually being inspired by abstraction and naturalistic movement when exploring either through improvisation or chorography.

As well as technical training I am passionate about my creative training and have been enjoying creating many chorographic works over the last few years working alongside professional choreographers and creating my own works as well. I have been lucky to have the experience to choreograph and create screen dance that I most recently incorporated into my latest choreographic project.

I hope to further my technical training to continue learning fundamental techniques, while also discovering who I am as a contemporary dance artist and to continue my creative work in my upcoming final year of training.

“I am currently studying BA(Hons) Dance at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. I will be going into my third year this September. Throughout the past two years I have worked with multiple industry professionals from Musical Theatre, film and commercial backgrounds for example, Dean Lee and Wayne Sleep. In second year I learnt circus aerial skills which include silk and hoop work and look forward to learning bungee assisted dance from September. I have performed at MOVE IT 2019, and was in the FAME! Reunion Tour as a dancer at the Liverpool Arena plus had many onsite performances with my year group in the Paul McCartney Auditorium. I have also had the opportunity to teach my own commercial classes at LIPA as choreography and teaching is always something I have been interested in.

Fact! - I had never tapped before going to Studio B, I had a couple of lessons with Miss SJ before I left as was worried I would be behind everyone else and now I have been moved up tap levels to the second group!!! You can always learn no matter how old!

Some advice for younger dancers who want to pursue dance as a career: learn to always perform in class whether that’s ballet or jazz etc as it makes it easier when facing auditions and allows you to stand out. As they say at LIPA “technique can be taught, personality and a smile can not”. Always believe in yourself and never doubt your capability as a dancer.

I am so thankful for Studio B as even though I was only there for a couple of years before I left for university they taught me how to be professional in auditions and really expanded my knowledge on a range of styles which I hadn’t encountered prior. I really believe this allowed me to get into one of the leading dance colleges! I will always feel apart of the B family.

Feel free to ask me any questions about dance, my training or LIPA: my email is eviemaitland@hotmail.co.uk😊 ”

I am now a full time teacher at studio B, but I am still progressing my training on side. I’m currently training with Miss Kerry to gain my DDE Tap ISTD. Before I became a full time teacher I trained as a teaching apprentice under Kerry at studio B and gained qualifications with the RAD (ballet), ISTD (Tap) and Acrobatic Arts. I also attended many courses so I’m licensed in Progressive ballet technique, Leap surgery and Silver Swan (ballet for age 50+ with RAD)
